The Dickies story began in 1918 when C.N Williamson and Colonel E.E.Dickie opened their first Overalls store, “U.S. Overall Company ”, Texas. In 1922 the Williamson family decided to buy all the shares in the company, and changed the name to "Williamson Dickie Manufacturing Company". The firm's first major success was during World War II, when it was chosen as the official supplier of all US Army uniforms. They knew well how to combine quality with fashion, so their buyers began to use this clothing, created in principle for work, even in everyday life. In Europe, not having this purely American tradition, the classic collection is combined with one with a more Streetwear style.
